Is The Sims Update Really Worth It?

If you are unaware, Sims 4 is a simulation game where you can create characters, families, houses, and stories. The game was released in September of 2014 but there were previous versions released, Sims, Sims 2, and Sims 3. Originally Sims was owned by Origin, a company who also owns games like Battlefield, Fifa, and Battlefront. Origin recently transferred over to Electronic Arts. EA is the new launcher for Sims 4 and all of the other Origin games. They claimed games and the platform would run smoother and more efficiently.

UPDATE

The infant update. Sims 4 players have been asking for this update for years. The ages in sims 4 go from newborn to toddler to kid to young adult to adult and finally to elder. The recent update offers a new life stage between newborn and toddler. Your newborn will not become and infant. Infants will be able to learn to crawl, try new foods for the first time, learn to stand, and much more. There will also be more furniture and items added for gameplay. Many sim players were extremely excited for this update but were unfortunately disappointed.

After updating the game and looking through the new create a sim features and build mode items, it was extremely underwhelming. Many expected there to be changing tables in the base game update, there were not, those are included only in the expansion pack. Many also assumed there would be more clothing for infants included. Most of the clothing for infants were toddler clothing made to fit the size of the infants besides two or three outfits. As a sims user I was disappointed in how little this update really added to gameplay, besides infants there is not many items to play around or decorate with to make your sims house a home.

EXPANSION PACK

The expansion pack is a whole other story. Growing together is an expansion pack that adds more to the game but is an extra $40. The expansion pack includes things like treehouses, furniture, a new world, and more family functions. Your sims can now visit their parents, grandparents, and can go out to places like the park and library as a family. You can also hae your sims build treehouses and go on bike rides with family members. In the expansion pack you also get more traits, aspirations, and likes and dislikes for your sims.

A lot of people who invested in this expansion pack are happy with the new things added to gameplay but also are a little disappointed because of how many thingsshouldve been in the base game update. In the expansion you get changing tables and new cribs that fit base game furniture but are not included in the base game. There was also a lot of bugs after downloading the pack. Many players were unable to play and would receive an error message when trying to play families they created before the update.
